Corbin

Corbin started out the summer with a bang!! He was on his way to Moab in June with the Hemulis, when we got a call at Nine at night saying they had been in a car accident. After a Horrible three hour drive, that no parent should ever have to go through, we ended up in grand Junction Colorado. Corbin had a cut on his head, scrapes and bruises and a concussion. His first words to me were
Corbin: What happened?
Me: you were in a car accident.
corbin: Is everyone OK?
Me: Yes, every ones OK.
Corbin: Are my contacts still in?
Me: Yes

This was repeated every 5 min. throughout the night and into the next day. Phil started telling him random things like, "you were at Disneyland and fell off the roller coaster, Donald duck drove you to the hospital." Which Corb would promptly forget, and start the questions over.
Very scary and it could have ended up so much worse. The van rolled, no one was seriously hurt, but everyone had broken bones, and lacerations.
It was a horrible event to go through, but he was with the best family I could ever think of to be with. Kepi was able to give him a blessing before he left in the ambulance, and when we got to the hospital, Karma was sitting with Corbin, even though all of her children were in different rooms and one was in surgery. What a great family!!

The week after the Accident Corbin was scheduled for sugery to fix his crooked legs. He has what is called, femeral rotation and tibial tortion, on both legs.
So on Tuesday we packed up and headed to Primary Childrens Hospital.
The surgery went really well and we were able to go back home on Friday.
He has a metal rod in his femur, and two pins in his ankle. He wore a pretty blue cast for 4 weeks, then went to a walking boot for 4 more weeks.
I am happy to say that he is now back to maountain biking, jumping jumps and doing everything he did before. Strong kid!!! Too bad we do it all over again in November!!
